Frequently Asked Questions
-
It is powered by a 50 watt DC Pump. Included with the purchase of the Water Rippler, is an AC/DC Power Converter that is outdoor rated to plug into your existing 120V GFCI outlet. If you choose the solar option, instead of the converter, the Water Rippler will come with a power cord with ring terminals to attach to a battery which can be attached to your solar array. Solar array and battery are not included.
-
If you have electrical outlets that you can access, that is the recommended method of powering the Water Rippler. We have had great success running the Water Rippler on solar power during the summer months, however, we want to caution you to seek professional assistance in your area if you plan to use the Water Rippler exclusively from solar power during the winter months.
Due to short daylight hours, and extreme winter temperatures which cause batteries to not charge well and to not hold their charge as long as in the summer months, we want you to plan appropriate amounts of solar capacity to protect your tank and Water Rippler from freezing.
-
The pump sits approximately 12” below the surface of the water. When choosing if the Water Rippler will work for your tank, please keep in mind that if it sits too close to the bottom of the tank it will not operate effectively, especially if there is a lot of debris on the bottom of the tank.

We have working videos of the Water Rippler at 0°F. At this temperature you still have areas of open water on the stock tank. Any ice that is forming at this temperature can easily be pushed through to access water. We also have videos of it in operation at -22°F. In these extreme colds, the Water Rippler will be under a layer of ice, but it is not a very thick layer and the water across the entire tank surface is still moving under the ice, so when you get the initial ice cap broken through, you have water available in your entire tank.
